Game One (continuation of a suspended game, WIL leading 9-0 in 4th): TBA @ RHP Tyler Sample (4-4, 3.75)

Game Two: RHP Justin Collop (0-3, 6.00) @ RHP Jake Odorizzi (5-1, 2.97)

First Socked, then Soaked: Last night's series opener between the Dash and Blue Rocks was a complete washout in multiple ways for Winston-Salem. After a 22-minute rain delay to start the game, Wilmington jumped all over Dash starter Joe Serafin to score nine runs in the first three innings. The Blue Rocks wrapped Serafin for 12 hits, seven for extra bases (four doubles, a triple, and three home runs), for the second time in less than a week. Wilmington produced 12 hits against Serafin over six innings in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Dash at BB&T Ballpark. The rain returned in the fourth inning and play was stopped and eventually suspended. The game will resume today at 5 p.m. with Wilmington leading 9-0 with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Nick Francis at first base, and Tim Ferguson batting. After the suspended game is concluded, the teams will play a seven-inning game immediately afterward.

Blue Rocky Road: The Royals' Carolina League affiliate has dominated Winston-Salem this season, winning eight out of ten matchups between the teams. The games themselves have typically been close, with five of the Dash's losses coming by one or two runs. The Blue Rocks spent much of the first half atop the Northern Division, but dropped 11 of 13 games before their recent road trip to fall behind the first place Frederick Keys. Wilmington was able to right the ship with a winning road trip to Winston-Salem and Lynchburg, going 4-3, including taking two of three from the Dash at BB&T Ballpark.

No Longer the Bayne of His Existence: After losing his first two starts of the season against the Keys, RHP Cameron Bayne exercised the demons in Wednesday night's first half home finale. In a season-best eight innings, Bayne allowed one run (earned) on five hits and struck out three. He picked up his third win in his last four starts and went seven innings or longer for the third straight game. In 12 starts this season, Bayne has gone seven-plus in six and also has a team-leading six quality starts

Ty High: Tyler Saladino bounced back from an 0 for 5 night on Monday to go 2 for 4 with two RBI in Tuesday' loss and had a hit and two runs scored on Wednesday. After missing the first month of the season with a broken hand, Saladino is starting take off offensively. He has a base hit in seven of his last nine games and a multi-hit game in five of the last eight contests he has played in. Since June 5, Saladino is batting .317 (13 for 41) with four doubles, one homer, seven RBI, and five runs scored. He has raised his batting average 40 points to .225 during this period.

Wilky Smooth: Andy Wilkins cracked his tenth home run of the season in the sixth inning Wednesday night, his second home run in three games. He also homered off the top of the center field wall in Monday's series opener. In the game, Wilkins had two hits and three RBI, ending a series in which he drove in six total runs. That came after he was named a Carolina League All-Star on Monday afternoon before the start of the three-game set. After struggling for most of the first half of the season, Wilkins started to break out in late May when he was named Carolina League Player of the Week (May 23-29). During that span, he hit .429 and increased his batting average by 23 points.

Tiger Bait: Jared Mitchell feasted on a four-hit performance Wednesday night, the first time he's had four hits in a game in his professional career. Between his time at LSU and in the White Sox organization, Mitchell has notched only one previous four-hit ballgame, on May 9, 2008 against Mississippi State when he was at LSU. Against the Bulldogs, Mitchell went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and four runs. Like Wilkins, Mitchell struggled to begin the season, but boosted his average by 11 points with the four-hit performance and now has a hit in four consecutive games and in 12 of his last 14 games.

Under Water: With their 36th loss of the season on Tuesday, the Dash are guaranteed to finish below .500 in the first half of 2011. Winston-Salem had not finished below .500 in a half since the first half of the 2008 season when the team was still the Warthogs. That year, the 'Hogs were 29-40 in the first half, but rebounded to go 42-28 in the second half and clinch a playoff berth.

Today's Opposing Starter: RHP Jake Odorizzi (5-1, 2.97) makes his 13th start of the season and his fourth against the Dash. He got blasted on Sunday at BB&T Ballpark, allowing seven runs on four hits and four walks in his first loss of the season. In his two starts against Winston-Salem, he allowed just two runs on seven hits in 13 innings with 20 strikeouts and one walk. A Carolina League All-Star, Odorizzi is ninth in ERA in the CL, second in strikeouts (82), and first in K/9 IP (12.16). He is in his first season with the Royals organization after serving as the centerpiece of the trade that sent major leaguers Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt to Milwaukee in exchange for Odorizzi, IF Alcides Escobar, RHP Jared Jeffress, and OF Lorenzo Cain. Baseball America ranked Odorizzi as the top prospect in the Brewers farm system prior to the trade, while Escobar held that spot in the previous season. He spent all of 2010 with low-A Wisconsin, going 7-3 with a 3.43 and 135 strikeouts in 120.2 innings. Odorizzi led the Midwest League with 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings last season and pitched the first eight innings of a combined no-hitter in his penultimate start. He entered this year ranked by MLB.com as the 37th-best prospect among all minor leaguers. Odorizzi features a fastball that ranges from 89-95 mph, a curveball, slider, and changeup. Milwaukee originally selected him as a supplemental first-rounder (32nd overall) in 2008 out of Highland (IL) HS. He elected to sign with the Brewers for just over $1 million rather than attend the University of Louisville, where he was being recruited to play football in addition to baseball. In his senior season, he was an All-League wide receiver on the gridiron and went 14-0 with a 0.08 ERA (1 ER, 89.2 IP) and 146 K/6 BB on the mound.
