Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - For the first time since 2008, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are ticketed for the Carolina League postseason by virtue of their first-half Southern Division title clinched with Friday's win and Kinston loss at Lynchburg, and Pelicans playoff tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 18 at 10 a.m. for the 2011 postseason at BB&T Coastal Field. The Pelicans are slated to begin their push for the franchise's third Mills Cup title on Wednesday, September 7 and could potentially host as many as six postseason games in Myrtle Beach.
The first round Division Series will be a best-of-five sets between the Pelicans against the second-half Southern-Division champion. If the Pelicans win the second half as well, the team that finishes second to Myrtle Beach in the second half will be a wild-card entrant.
By virtue of winning the first-half title, the Pelicans will host the first two games of the Divisional Series before going on the road for the remaining necessary games. If the Birds take the second-half crown as well, they get the bonus of having a possible fifth and deciding game at home in Myrtle Beach.
If the Pelicans win the Southern Division Series they will move on to the Mills Cup Championship Series, a best-of-five set against the winner of the Northern Division Series. Since it is an odd-numbered year, the series will begin in the city of the Northern Division champions and conclude with the remaining games in the city of the Southern Division champions.
Ticket prices for the entire slate of postseason games are as follows: Field Box - $11.00; Reserved Box - $9.00; Grand Strand Reserved - $9.00; Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck - $7.00.
Tickets for the six potential games may be purchased individually or as part of a special Pelicans postseason package which guarantees fans the same seat for all six contests. Season ticket holders and mini-plan holders will have the first right of refusal on their seats.
In the 2011 Pelicans Playoff Pandemonium Package, fans who buy tickets for the first three games get the last three games for free. The pricing for this is as follows: Field Box - $33.00; Reserved Box - $27.00; Grand Strand Reserved - $27.00; Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck - $21.00.
As always at BB&T Coastal Field, there are great deals for group rates and luxury suites. For groups of 15 or more, prices are: Field Box - $10.00 ($9 for groups of 100 or more); Reserved Box - $5.00; Grand Strand Reserved - $5.00; Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck - $6.00.
In the First Base Picnic Area, tickets for the Field Box are $25 and are $23 for children ages 3-12. Tickets for the Reserved Box and Grand Strand Reserved sections are $23 and are $21 for children ages 3-12.
A 20-person Luxury Suite is $600, which includes a food package worth $250. The 40-person Pelicans Restaurant is $1000, which includes a food package worth $500.
Should any games become unnecessary, or if the Pelicans fail to advance to the Mills Cup Championship Series, unused tickets can be used at face value for any 2012 ticket purchase.
