San Antonio Rampage News Release

Manchester, N.H. - Rookie Daniel Winnik posted two goals in another great team effort by the Rampage to get the 6-3 victory over the Manchester Monarchs Wednesday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The Rampage pick up their first win on the road and continue their winning streak to three games while moving up to fifth place in the West Division standings.

The Rampage had three power-play goals out of four opportunities. Bryan Helmer was the first to take advantage of the extra man and contributed the first goal for the Rampage at the 12:18 mark in the opening period with help from Tyson Nash and Matthew Spiller. A little over two minutes later, Manchester's Gabe Gauthier responded with a power-play goal which was the first of two for the Monarchs who went two-for-eight on the power-play. At the 16 minute mark, Jeff Taffe was able to convert Keith Yandle's hooking minor into a short-handed goal, the first for the Rampage, and go up 2-1 on the Monarchs heading into the first intermission.

Halfway into the second period, the Rampage extended their lead with back-to-back power-play goals. Travis Roche collected his first goal of the season with help from Taffe and Bill Thomas at the 9:30 mark before Joe Callahan and Spiller helped Winnik tally his first goal of the game 51 seconds later. Former Rampage forward, John Zeiler was able to get one past Rampage goaltender Philippe Sauve to cut the deficit in half, 4-2.

Winnik struck again in the third period with another goal against Monarch netminder Jason LaBarbera at the five minute mark with assists credited to Pascal Rheaume and former Monarch forward, Yanick Lehoux. Manchester's Patrick O'Sullivan was able to sneak in one last goal for the Monarchs at the 16:26 mark hoping to start a rally. With less than a minute in regulation, LaBarbera was benched to allow an extra attacker but Jakub Koreis fed Rheaume the puck for an empty net goal to assure the victory.

The Rampage had 11 players contribute points out of the 17 skaters that dressed but were outshot 38-33 as Sauve picked up his third consecutive win and now has 77 saves in the past three games.

The Rampage stretch their record to 5-8-0-0 as they make a 75 mile trek to Massachusetts to take on the Worcester Sharks for the very first time in Rampage history at DCU Center at 6 p.m. Friday night.
