Rochester Americans News Release

The American Red Cross Blood Services and the Rochester Americans hockey team are teaming up to put the freeze on blood shortages, as part of the "Give Blood, Get Amerks Hockey" program. To boost regional blood supplies and help save the lives of patients in need of blood products, all presenting whole blood and apheresis blood donors in the Rochester area throughout the month of November will receive a voucher good for a free ticket to any Rochester Americans' home hockey game in December. An estimated 5,000 vouchers will be given away while supplies last.

All current eligible and new donors are strongly urged to call 1-800-GIVE LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visit www.DonateBloodNow.org as soon as possible to schedule an appointment to donate blood. Anyone 16 years or older, weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health may be eligible to donate blood. In New York State, 16 year olds may donate blood provided they bring an original signed New York State Informed Parental Consent for a 16 year old to Donate Whole Blood to the blood drive. The consent form can be found at www.DonateBloodNow.org/16. Identification is required to donate blood.
