Bears acquire center Matt Koalska

HERSHEY - The 2006 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the Washington Capitals that center Matt Koalska has been acquired on loan from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Koalska, 26, comes to HERSHEY after scoring 19 goals in 75 games last season for Bridgeport (AHL). A St. Paul, Minnesota native, he was a member of the 2002 and 2003 NCAA National Champion University of Minnesota Golden Gophers under head coach Don Lucia. He is expected to be available this weekend when the BEARS travel to Manitoba to face the Moose at MTS Centre in Winnipeg.

HERSHEY will play its next three games on the road, with two in Winnipeg against Manitoba this Friday and Saturday, and in Springfield against the Falcons next Wednesday, November 15. The BEARS will return to GIANT Center on Saturday, November 18 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00 p.m. for Capital Blue Cross night. The first 3,500 fans through the gates will receive a free BEARS car magnet, thanks to Capital Blue Cross.
