Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings completed a series win over the Worcester Red Sox Sunday afternoon, thanks to an extra-inning win in game two. The win marks the Wings' second-straight series win, the first time they've notched back-to-back series victories since 5/23-6/4 against TOL and SYR.

Game 1

Rochester began scoring Saturday night, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from 1B Jake Noll that plated 3B Jake Alu. Then, with two runners on in the bottom of the second inning, rain suspended the game until Sunday afternoon, where Worcester picked up and quickly tied the game when DH Ronaldo Hernandez brought in 3B Bobby Dalbec on a double play groundout.

After RHP Luis Reyes shut down the WooSox across the next three innings, 1B Stephen Scott launched a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Worcester a 2-1 advantage. The WooSox extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when CF Ceddanne Rafaela roped an RBI double off the outfield wall in left that scored Dalbec. Noll cut the Wings deficit to 3-2 in the top of the seventh on an RBI double, his second RBI hit of the day, driving in CF Derek Hill.

Noll came back to the plate in the top of the ninth and launched a two-out, game-tying solo home run, his third of the season, that traveled 400 feet. 2B David Hamilton responded for the WooSox in the bottom of the ninth inning with an RBI single that scored PR Wilyer Abreu to win game one for Worcester.

LHP Anthony Banda started for Rochester on Saturday, working an inning, allowing a run on two hits before the game was suspended. Luis Reyes picked up the contest upon resumption Sunday afternoon, working three scoreless innings, striking out four batters while not allowing a hit. RHP Roddery Muñoz relieved Reyes and pitched 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while fanning three batters. RHP Hobie Harris turned in 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk before RHP Luis Cessa (0-2, 7.71) allowed an earned run off two hits and a walk in his appearance, taking the loss.

Jake Noll earned the game's Diamond Pro Player honors after going 3-for-3 with a game-tying home run, a double, three RBI, two walks and a run. The performance marked his fourth game with three or more hits and first game with a home run and a double since 7/6/2022 against LHV.

Game 2

After a scoreless first inning, DH Matt Adams began scoring in the second game of the day with his 13th home run of the season, a solo shot that gave Rochester a 1-0 advantage. Rochester managed seven runners on base after the solo home run in the second inning, but were unable to plate any more. RHP Wily Peralta set down Worcester batters in his five innings on the mound and only allowed one runner into scoring position in his outing.

The WooSox managed just nine base runners through the first six innings of the game. Then, in the bottom of the seventh inning, PH Nick Sogard tied the game on a solo home run over the right field wall. In the top of the eighth inning, C Drew Millas lifted the Wings ahead of Worcester with an RBI single that plated CF Derek Hill. LHP Tim Cate entered to close out Worcester in the bottom of the eighth, cementing the win and Rochester's second-straight series victory.

Peralta started game two on Sunday and worked five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out three batters. The start marked Peralta's fourth five-inning shutout performance this season for the Wings. RHP Gerson Moreno came out of the bullpen first in relief and worked two innings, allowing a run on one hit with four walks while striking out four batters. Cate (1-0, 5.40) closed the door on Worcester in a scoreless inning of relief, striking out the batter while earning his first Triple-A win.

Wily Peralta earned game two's Diamond Pro Player of the Game honors after working five scoreless innings in his start. The righty allowed just one runner to get into scoring position during his outing and became the second Wings starter in the series against Worcester to work a scoreless performance of five innings or more.

The Red Wings head to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to begin a six-game series with the RailRiders on Tuesday. RHP Jackson Rutledge is slated to start for the Wings, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
