Thompson Set to Rehab with Knights Sunday

(DURHAM, NC) - OF Trayce Thompson, who was recently acquired by the Chicago White Sox in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, will begin a Major League Baseball Rehab Assignment today with the Charlotte Knights in Durham, NC.

Thompson, 32, is currently on Chicago's 60-day Injured List. Most recently, Thompson was on an MLB Rehab Assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. With the Dodgers this season, Thompson is hitting .155 (11-for-71) with 12 runs scored, five home runs and 14 RBI over 36 games with the Dodgers this season.

Thompson was originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the second round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft. He first played for the Knights in 2012, appearing in six games during the regular season that year. In all, Thompson has appeared in 156 games with the Knights over parts of three seasons (2012,2015 & 2018).

The Knights announced two additional roster moves on Sunday before the team's finale against the Durham Bulls from Durham Bulls Athletic Park. First pitch of the finale of the six-game series is set for 5:05 p.m. tonight from Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

RHP Jordan Leasure, who was also acquired on July 28 with Trayce Thompson in Chicago's trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, was added to Charlotte's active roster today. Leasure, 24, has posted a 2-2 record with nine saves and a 3.09 ERA in 29 games pitched with Double-A Tulsa this season. He compiled 56 strikeouts over 35.0 innings pitched. A native of Brandon, FL, Leasure was drafted by the Dodgers in the 14th round of the June 2021 First-Year Player Draft.

INF Kean Wong was released by Chicago White Sox organization today. Wong, 28, appeared in 17 games with the Knights after he was acquired by the White Sox in a trade with the Seattle Mariners on June 18. With the Knights, Wong hit .196 (11-for-56) with eight runs scored, one home run, three RBI and two stolen bases. He hit .315 (29-for-92) with 20 runs scored, five doubles, four home runs, 24 RBI and three stolen bases in 33 games with Triple-A Tacoma earlier this season.
