Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings were in action on a rare Thursday night against the Brookings Blizzard. A great crowd on hand of 1,281 Wings fans really brought some great energy to the Odde Ice Center. On the ice however, the Wings would fall 5-1 to the Blizzard.
The first period was scoreless with both teams struggling to have any solid scoring opportunities. Both the Blizzard and Wings had 6 shots on goal.
The second period would change everything. 27 seconds into the period, the Blizzard would get a goal from Kevin Shand. At the 3:42 mark, the Blizzard would make it 2-0 with a goal from Viktor Lindell. Not holding back, the Blizzard would silence the Wings crowd with a goal at 5:57 from Zach Gleinke making the score 3-0. At the 7:48 mark, the Wings would find a loose puck for a goal from #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) with assists to #11 Victor Ostling (F-Stockholm, Sweden) and #17 Will Hammer (F-St. Cloud, MN). Now 3-1, the Blizzard would essentially end the game with two more goals making it 5-1.
The Brookings Blizzard managed 25 shots on goal. Wings goaltender #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamston, MI) was pulled mid-way through the second period for #35 Andrew Shortridge (G-Eagle River, AK). The Wings only fired 19 shots on goal in the game.
