Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings were on the road Friday night taking on the Bismarck Bobcats in NAHL action. The Wings were coming off a 5-1 loss the night before to the Brookings Blizzard at home. The Bobcats were ready for a battle at home, and won the battle 4-1.
Bismarck would outshoot the Wings 10-7 in the first period. However neither team would score. Wings goaltender #35 Andrew Shortridge (G-Eagle River, AK) was spot on making saves one-on-one. The Wings battled to gain puck possession, but the over powering force of the Bobcats pushed those scoring chances aside.
In the second period, just one minute off the clock, the Bobcats would strike first with a goal from JM Piotrowski. Leading 1-0, the Bobcats defense would falter on a play in front of the net as Wings forward #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland) would find the loose puck for the goal. The assist would be given to #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN). Midway through the period, the Bobcats would win a faceoff with the puck on the blue line. Bobcats defenseman Tony German would fire a slap shot for the goal. Bismarck would lead 3-1 after two periods.
In the third period, the gates would remain open as the Bobcats would tally two more goals from Anthony Song and Jared Pike. The final score would be 4-1, with the Wings losing their 8th in the last 10 games. Bismarck outshot the Wings 38-19.
The Wings are back in action in Bismarck tomorrow night. Puck drop at 7:15pm. You can hear the games on 94.1 The Rock, ESPNAberdeen.com, or watch/listen on FASTHockey.com.
