Aberdeen Wings News Release
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced the rosters for next month's NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, presented by Easton, which will be held from February 23-24, 2015 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Aberdeen Wings will be sending three players to the tournament to represent the NAHL Central Division. Among those are forwards #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) and #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland), and goaltender #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamston, MI).
Haak, a fourth-year veteran of the NAHL will make his appearance as the Wings' scoring leader. Currently he has tallied 33 points with 9 goals and 24 assists. Haak has played 163 games in the North American Hockey League, while scoring 29 goals and 75 assists. Haak is also the 2014-2015 team captain for the Aberdeen Wings.
Sigurdarson is in his 2nd year with the Aberdeen Wings. Earlier this season, he was named the 2014 Icelandic Hockey National Player of the Year, the most prestigious award in his home country. Sigurdarson played in 54 games last season tallying 13 goals and 25 assists. This season, he is the 3rd leading scorer with 9 goals and 9 assists.
Catt is in his 4th season in the NAHL. Having spent time in the USHL with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders before coming to the NAHL with the Amarillo Bulls, Catt has been a staple between the pipes for the Wings since coming over in a trade during the 2012-2013 season. Catt is 8-13-1 this season with a 2.84 goals against average.
The number of players each NAHL team is sending to the event, in which four teams from the four NAHL divisions: Central, Midwest, North and South and a special fifth NAHL Selects team, will each play in two game games, was based on each team's winning percentage within their group as of January 18, 2015. Only those NAHL players without an NCAA commitment at the time of selection are eligible to participate in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, with the exception of those who will be playing on the NAHL Selects team. Each of the teams consists of a 20-man roster (12 forwards, 6 defensemen, 2 goaltenders).
