Wings Blow 4-0 Lead in Loss to IronPigs

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs scored six runs over its final three at-bats as Rochester Red Wings blew a 4-0 lead and fell 8-5 Saturday night at Coca Cola Park.

The Red Wings (4-5) gave Jose Berrios a 3-0 lead through three innings as Darin Mastroianni drove in James Beresford with a single and Buck Britton followed with his first home run as a Wing in the third again IronPigs (3-5) starter Reinier Roibal.

Beresford drove in his first run of the season in the fourth, scoring Wilfredo Tovar, to give Rochester a 4-0 advantage. Lehigh Valley loaded the bases against Berrios in the bottom half of the frame and plated two on Andrew Knapp's single.

Berrios exited after the fifth after allowing three hits and three walks while striking out four. He was in line for the victory before the IronPigs scored three runs in the sixth against Dan Runzler (0-1), the big hitting coming on Cameron Perkins' two-run double.

The Wings tied the game the next half inning as Jorge Polanco walked with two outs and Kennys Vargas hit the first pitch of the next at-bat into the the left field corner for a run-scoring double. Polanco also tripled in the first inning and he is now tied for the International League lead with three, three-baggers.

Lehigh Valley regained the lead in the bottom of the seventh as Taylor Featherston hit an infield single and advanced to second on a throwing error. Ryan Jackson attempted to sacrifice Featherston to third but, after two failed bunt attempts, singled in the go-ahead run. The IronPigs added two more in the eighth against Brandon Kintzler to cap the scoring.

Polanco and Vargas each had two hits in defeat.
