
Wingnuts Win Seventh Straight

FARGO, ND- The Wichita Wingnuts won their seventh straight game on Tuesday afternoon, beating the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 10-6 at Newman Outdoor Field.
Jake Kahaulelio had four hits and four RBI, while Taylor Freeman fell a triple shy of the cycle.
The Wingnuts scored early and often against RedHawks' starter Alex Rivers. Kahaulelio singled through the right side with one out and advanced to second when John Rodriguez drew a walk. Mitch Einertson drove in Kahaulelio with a line drive single to right-center.
In the second, Freeman hit a leadoff double that traveled to the the fence in right-center field. Freeman was sacrificed to third by Mike Conroy, and scored two batters later when Kahaulelio doubled down the left field line with two outs.
Wichtia extended the lead with three more runs in the top of the third. With first and second and one out, Freeman lined a single to center that brought in David Peralta from second base. Later in the inning, Kahaulelio singled to center with the bases loaded and two outs to drive in two more runs.
Freeman clubbed a solo home run on a towering flyabll to right-center in the top of the fifth. Fargo rallied for four runs in the bottom half to trim the lead to 6-4. Marcos Rodriguez and Ryan Delgado had two-out, RBI singles for the RedHawks during the inning.
Ben Graham started for Wichita and earned his first win of the year. Graham allowed five earned runs on eight hits, walked two, and struck out one.
Jared Simon, Nick Walters, and Matt Nevarez combined for two shutout innings in the sixth and seventh to keep Wichita in front.
The Wingnuts scored four times in the eighth to make it 10-4. Conroy was hit by a pitch leading off and went to third on a single to left from Ryan Khoury. Kahaulelio picked up his fourth RBI of the afternoon with a line drive single to left. Rodriguez walked to load the bases, and then Einertson singled home two more runs on a line drive to center. C.J. Ziegler ripped a single through the left side to score Rodriguez for the final Wingnuts' run.
A Todd Jennings home run in the bottom of the eighth cut the lead to 10-5. Fargo brought the tying run to the plate following a bases loaded walk in the ninth, but Edgar Martinez retired Ryan Stovall on a foul popup for the final out. Martinez earned his first save of the season.
Rivers took the loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in two and two-thirds innings. Rivers walked five and struck out one.
The seven-game winning streak ties the second-longest in team history.
