Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, KS - The Wingnuts made two additions to their roster Monday, signing free agent RHP Larry Robles and reacquiring RHP Doug Hurn.

A native of San Pedro, CA, Robles last pitched in 2006 with the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League, where he was a teammate of Wingnuts' closer Byron Embry. Robles has a career mark of 15-19 with a 5.22 ERA. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the 7th round in 2003 after playing college ball at California State-Dominguez Hills.

Hurn had been with the Wingnuts from May 27th through July 7th, posting a 4-2 record with a 5.22 ERA in 15 appearances. The Sparks, NV native had been playing with the McKinney Blue Thunder of the Continental League.

Wichita had two open roster spots after the release of RHP David Cross and the departure of RHP Dave Rider to pursue other opportunities.

The Wingnuts begin a long road trip, which includes 14 games in 13 days while the 74th annual NBC World Series takes place at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. The road trip begins Monday in Lincoln, as the Wingnuts open a three-game series with the first place Saltdogs.

Wichita returns home for the last time in the regular season on August 17th against Sioux Falls. For tickets to the final homestand as well as the NBC, call the Wingnuts' office at (316) 264-4625.
