Sunday afternoon the Oaks looked to avoid the sweep against the Bakersfield Blaze in the final game of a three game series. After dropping the first two games Visalia started out the day in last place in the North Division, after losing the night before 6-1 the Oaks. The Oaks would send out righty Jeremy Flanagan to face left-hander Ryan Wing.
Oaks scored first for the fifth straight game getting a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Wes Bankston to give Visalia a 1-0 lead. The game would remain the same as Flanagan and Wing posted zeros until the bottom of the bottom of the sixth when the Blaze struck for three runs and lead 3-1.
The Oaks would answer with a run in the top of the seventh but the Blaze answered back with a leadoff homerun in the bottom of the eighth by Anthony Webster and lead 4-2. The Oaks battled back in the ninth getting a homerun from Aneudi Cuevas but come up short losing 4-2, and are swept by the Blaze dropping their fourth straight game.
The Oaks have Monday off but continue there nine game road trip when they go to Southern California for the first time this season to take on Lake Elsinore for three games before going to Rancho Cucamonga for three more. Visalia will send righty lefty Joe Little vs. a pitcher yet to be named by the Storm in game one against Lake Elsinore.
