
Windy City Outlasts Grand Rapids in Overtime, Dotson Scores 34

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, hung on for a 117-116 victory over the Grand Rapids Gold at NOW Arena Wednesday afternoon. Windy City guard Devon Dotson submitted a season-high 34 points - including 21 in the second half - to help the Bulls get the win.
Grand Rapids stormed out to a 15-0 start to the game, before taking a 28-16 lead into the second quarter. Windy City clawed back in the second period, cutting its deficit to six points heading into halftime.
Scottie Lindsey played a big role in the Bulls' second-quarter surge, scoring 14 points in the period on 5-for-7 shooting from the field.
Windy City rattled off a 9-2 run in the first three minutes of the quarter to take a 59-58 lead - its first of the game. Grand Rapids caught fire again and jumped out to another double-digit lead midway through the period, but the Bulls once again weathered the storm to take an 80-79 advantage into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter was a duel between the star point guards. For the Bulls, Dotson scored 12 points in the period on 4-for-7 shooting. For the Gold, NBA veteran Isaiah Thomas dropped 18 points in the quarter on 6-for-9 shooting. Grand Rapids outscored the Bulls 31-30 in the quarter to tie the game at 110 at the end of regulation.
Thomas knocked down a three-pointer to start the scoring in overtime, but the Bulls fought back to win 117-116.
Lindsey finished with 22 points off the bench, while Chicago Bulls Assignment center Marko Simonović put up 21 points and seven rebounds. Ethan Thompson was the fourth Windy City player to reach double figures, scoring 13 points on 3-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc.
For the Gold, Thomas ended with 45 points on 14-for-27 shooting. Petr Cornelie notched a double-double with 16 points and 21 rebounds for the Gold. NBA veteran Nik Stauskas scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out seven assists. Giorgi Bezhanishvili was the fourth Gold player to reach double figures, scoring 10 points off the bench.
With the win, the Bulls improved to 8-11, while Grand Rapids moved to 9-9.
Next, the Bulls host the Maine Celtics at NOW Arena for a back-to-back series on Feb. 26-27. Tip-off against the Celtics is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 and will stream on NBAGLeague.com. The Sunday, Feb. 27 matchup is slated to tip-off at 5 p.m. on NBC Sports Chicago.
