Greensboro Swarm News Release

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, dropped a heartbreaker, 100-98, to the Raptors 905 (Toronto Raptors affiliate) on Wednesday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. On the final possession of the game, Raptors' David Johnson hit a buzzer-beating floater to stun the Swarm and the Greensboro faithful.

It was a close contest throughout with the largest lead for either team being eight points (by the 905). The score was tied after the first quarter at 27 and the Raptors would hold a meager four-point lead at halftime (58-54).

The back-and-forth affair continued to the final possessions of the game. Joe Chealey made four free throws in the final minute of the game to even the score at 98 with 23.8 seconds left. Two 905 timeouts later, Greensboro fouled Reggie Perry with 4.5 seconds remaining. Fortunately, the Swarm had a foul to give but unfortunately, Johnson gathered the ensuing inbound and banked the floater to steal the victory.

The Swarm had two 20-point scorers in Cameron McGriff and Chealey. McGriff had 22 points, eight rounds and four assists in 30 minutes off the bench. He has scored 20-plus four times this season. Chealey added a team-high 24 points to go with six rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes.

Justin Champagnie had a game-high 25 points for the 905. Johnson finished with 11 points. Perry (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Isaac Bonga (11 points, 15 rebounds) both produced a double-double. Dalano Banton had 12 points. All five 905 starters scored double-digits.

Other notable performances for Greensboro included Jalen Crutcher's 11 points and LiAngelo Ball's nine points (3-for-6 from deep). Karim Mané and Bryce Wills also made their Swarm debuts after being acquired earlier in the week.

The two sides play again on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Fieldhouse.
