Florence, Kentucky: 2,217 fans came out to Champion Window Field for WEBN Thirsty Thursday. Florence sent lefty Alain Quijano to the mound, and he didn't disappoint.
The game was scoreless through the first six and a half innings, but the Freedom ended that after the seventh inning stretch. It started with a Beau Blacken single to left, he was bunted over by Tim Grogan who then reached on an error by the pitcher. After a wild pitch advanced the runners, Joe Holland came through in the clutch with a two-run single. The lead stayed the same until the top of the ninth, when Windy City came back. Mike Coles continued his hitting streak with a three run homerun that downed the Freedom, 4-2.
Alain Quijano pitched great, he went eight plus innings, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out five. Beau Blacken helped lead the offense, he went 2-3 with a run scored. Joe Holland went 1-4, making his one hit count, driving in the Freedom's only two runs. Newly signed shortstop Tyler Evans looked really good in his Freedom debut, he went 2-4 with a double.
