Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Monday announced that center Jason Williams has rejoined the team on assignment from the Detroit Red Wings.

Williams, 22, stands fourth on the Griffins with 43 points (22-21-43) in 39 games. He leads the team with seven multi-goal games and nine power play goals (tied), while ranking third with 22 goals.

A member of Detroit's 2002 Stanley Cup championship team, Williams played for the Wings in last night's 4-0 loss at Minnesota, logging 11 shifts with one shot and a minus-one rating. In 16 games with Detroit this season, he has six points (3-3-6) and a plus-three rating.
