SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League announced today that Manchester Monarchs goaltender Travis Scott has been named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 23, 2003. Scott went 2-0-1 in three starts last week, stopping 116 of 119 shots and recording two shutouts as the Monarchs extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.

On Wednesday night, Scott was perfect against a 50-shot barrage from the South Division-leading Norfolk Admirals, leading Manchester to a 3-0 win. The Monarchs then began a home-and-home with Providence, the only team ahead of them in the North Division standings. Scott posted another gem on Friday, turning aside all 30 Bruins shots in a 3-0 victory, and extended his shutout streak to more than 162 minutes before finishing with 36 saves in a 3-3 tie with the B's on Saturday. Scott finished with a 0.97 goals against average and a .975 save percentage on the week.

In recognition of his achievement, Scott will receive a Sher-Wood leather jacket, presented to him during an on-ice ceremony prior to an upcoming game. In addition, Sher-Wood will donate five travel bags to a local youth hockey organization in Scott's name.

Scott is unbeaten in his last six appearances (5-0-1), improving to 20-17-5 on the season with a 2.49 GAA, a .921 save percentage and three shutouts, all of which came in an eight-day span from Mar. 14-21. A native of Kanata, Ont., Scott is 86-77-13 in 193 career AHL matches with Manchester, Lowell and Worcester, spending the last four seasons in the Los Angeles Kings' system.
