St. Louis Blues Recall Two from Worcester

WORCESTER, MA- The Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League (AHL) received word today that defenseman Matt Walker and right wing Eric Nickulas have been recalled under emergency conditions by the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Currently in his third professional campaign, the 6-1 Walker has skated in 40 of 73 IceCats contests this season, notching one goal and eight assists: 40(1/8/9). His plus 16 rating leads the club. The IceCats alternate captain recorded his first goal of the season last Wednesday against Providence. Chosen as the IceCats Most Improved Player for the 2000-01 campaign, Walker's IceCats totals reflect 150 games, seven goals, 27 assists and 353 penalty minutes: 150(7/27/34)353. He made his NHL debut on December 10th, 2002 in New Jersey and went on to register his first NHL point, an assist, on January 18th against Chicago. The Beaverlodge, Alberta-born Walker was originally St. Louis' third round selection, 83rd overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Named the IceCats captain prior to the start of the season, Nickulas made his Blues debut on February 5th in Dallas and in two stints with the Blues has skated in a total of six games. With the big club, he has registered one assist and four penalty minutes: 6(0/1/1/)4. The notable assist came on an overtime game-winning goal on March 4th against Nashville. A native of Hyannis, Massachusetts, Nickulas has skated in 34 games for the IceCats during 2002-2003, recording 16 goals and 11 assists: 34(16/11/27). Six of his goals have come via the power play and two have been shorthanded. He departs Worcester with points in three straight and four out of his last five games.
