Washington Wild Things News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MI-Despite a mid-game rally that saw Washington score three runs on three hits, the Wild Things were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling in the series finale to the Traverse City Beach Bums 5-4. Matt Fraudin suffered the mound loss for Washington, while Luis DeJesus took the series-sweeping win.

The Beach Bums were able to score all of their runs in their first at-bat after capitalizing on three-straight walks from Fraudin. RBI's were credited to left fielder Brandon Jacobs, first baseman Yazy Arbelo, right fielder Jeff Deblieux and shortstop Sam Bumpers. From then on, Fraudin cruised through the Traverse City offense, retiring nine-straight at one point. He finished his outing allowing five runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Washington cut into the Beach Bums lead in the fourth frame of the contest when third baseman Matt Peters doubled to score designated hitter Sam Mende. First baseman Jimmy Yezzo followed suit with a two-run single to put the Wild Things within two.

A sacrifice flyout from right fielder David Popkins in the eighth cut the Traverse City lead to one, but the Wild Things were unable to overcome the deficit in their last at-bat, giving the game to the Beach Bums by a 5-4 margin.
