Washington Wild Things News Release

AVON, OH- In game one of three in the "Battle of the Turnpike" series, the Washington Wild Things dominated the Lake Erie Crushers Friday night winning by a final score of 7-0.

After a streak of 27 scoreless innings, the Wild Things' bats came alive this evening as they scored their seven runs on seven hits. Washington's CJ Beatty and Sam Mende were each credited with two-out RBI doubles in the top of the fourth to put the Wild Things on top with a score of 2-0.

Adding insurance to the Wild Things' lead was Carter Bell, who on his birthday delivered a three-run homer in the top of the fifth. Lee Orr added a dinger of his own in the top of the sixth to give Washington a seven-run advantage.

The Wild Things' Australian hurler, Luke Wilkins proved extremely dominant as he delivered a complete game six-hit shutout for Washington. Wilkins was tremendously efficient as he faced thirty-four batters through nine innings, striking out seven and only walking one en route to his second mound victory of the season.
