Washington Wild Things News Release

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, who blew a four run lead, came back to defeat the East Division Leading Kalamazoo Kings by a score of 6-5 at CONSOL Energy Park Tuesday night.

The scoring got underway in the third inning when Kalamazoo's Joe Ramos drove in Brandon Anderson to give the Kings a one run lead; but the tides turned in favor of Washington in the bottom of the inning. The Wild Things got on the board when Michael Parker drove in a three run homer, plating Chris Raniere, who walked, and Brett Grandstrand, who reached on an error.

The scoring continued in the sixth inning when Matt Sutton homered and drove in Grant Psomas.

Amos Ramon's RBI single and a Matt Maloney two run homer tied the game up in the top of the eighth inning. Matt Sutton, however, regained the Washington lead in the bottom of the inning when he plated Ryan Groth.

Reliever Chris Kupillas (1-1) got his first professional win, and Justin Edwards was awarded the save, his third of the season. Starter Craig Snipp allowed only one run on four hits in six innings of work. Nick Peterson and Keith Meyer, Kupillas, and Edwards pitched in relief.

The Wild Things and Kings meet for game two of this three game series Wednesday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 F.M. is 6:55. Jason Neitz is scheduled to take the mound for Washington. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park box office.
