Syracuse Crunch News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Adam Wilcox recorded his first professional shutout with a 25-save performance as the Syracuse Crunch downed the Rochester Americans, 4-0, tonight at the War Memorial Arena.
Adam Erne scored two goals, while Jeremy Morin and Erik Condra each added one of their own. Along with a goal, Condra also tallied two assists and Matt Taormina contributed three helpers. The win pushes the Crunch to 12-5-0-2 on the season and keeps the team atop the North Division.
Wilcox turned aside all 25 shots on goal to record the win. His counterpart, Linus Ullmark, stopped 34-of-37. Syracuse went 1-for-5 on the power play, and shut down all four of Rochester's man-advantages. The Amerks are now 0-for-21 on the power play against the Crunch this season.
Morin opened scoring with a power-play goal 4:17 into the first period. Taormina sent a feed from the high slot for Morin to one-time from the left circle. Tanner Richard picked up the secondary assist on the opening tally.
Condra extended the lead 5:32 into the second period. Jake Dotchin skated the puck into the zone and fired from the left circle. Ullmark blocked the shot, but Condra jammed the rebound in to put the Crunch up, 2-0. Taormina recorded his second point of the night with the assist.
Halfway through the middle stanza, Erne made it 3-0. His shot from the crease was heading wide, but redirected off a defenseman's skate and into the net. Taormina and Condra tallied points on the marker.
With just 5:21 remaining in the game, Erne notched his second of the night on an empty net with the help of Yanni Gourde and Condra. The win gives the Crunch a 5-0 lead in the 10-game season series with the Amerks.
The Crunch travel to Hershey to take on the Bears tomorrow at 5 p.m.
