Wichita Loses 3-1 to Allen to Finish Regular Season

Allen, TX (March 25th) - On the final day of the regular season, Wichita (44-19-3) got behind and was unable to mount a comeback in a 3-1 loss to the Allen Americans (39-18-9). Wichita finishes out the 2011-12 campaign on a three -game losing streak and dropped its second-straight to Allen on the weekend.
Allen scored first after Wichita was able to kill off a American power play. Mark Nebus drove the net after stealing the puck and his rebound was put home by Keith Johnson to make it 1-0.
In the second period, the Americans added another when Mark Nebus got to a loose puck at the left circle and wristed a shot past Thunder starter Bryan Hogan to make it 2-0. Wichita got one back on the power play as Thomas Beauregard (22) put a one-timer over the blocker of Allen goalie Jon Groenheyde to make it 2-1.
The Americans tacked on an insurance goal in the third as Tyler Ludwig extended the lead to 3-1 with a bullet from the right wing circle.
Wichita went 1-for-3 on the power play and the Americans went 0-for-4.
The Thunder finished out March with a record of 7-4-1, winning five games away from home during the month.
