Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Texas Brahmas on Saturday night 3-2, at the Allen Event Center, handing Texas their sixth straight defeat.
Mike Berube opened the scoring in the first, at the 13:27 mark, firing a shot from the right point that trickled through the legs of Brahmas rookie goalie Mark Guggenburger to give Allen a 1-0 lead. Tyler Ludwig and Bruce Graham collected assists. The score would remain 1-0 until just over two minutes left in the first, when the Brahmas would tie the score right off the face-off, when T.J. Fox fired one from in front of the Allen net past Marco Cousineau, to even the score at 1-1 and it would remain that way after twenty minutes of play.
Allen regained the lead in the second when Americans Captain Jason Deitsch broke in alone on Mark Guggenburger, beating him to the stick side for his 16thof the season and a 2-1 Americans lead.
Allen went up by two in the third when the red-hot Brian McMillin found Jim McKenzie streaking in on the right side on a back-hand pass that McKenzie buried for his 20th goal of the season, to give Allen a 3-1 lead. The Brahmas would cut it to 3-2 on a Gregg Eskedjian goal midway through the third, but the Americans and Cousineau would hold on for their 38th win of the year and the fourth straight over Texas.
