Fort Wayne Claims Turner Conference Regular Season Championship

GLENDALE, AZ (March 25, 2012) - The Fort Wayne Komets have won the Turner Conference regular season championship and the number one seed in the upcoming Turner Conference playoffs. The chase for the regular season crown went down to the season's final day and the Komets earned the distinction thanks to a 6-2 victory over the Dayton Gems on Sunday afternoon.

The Komets finish the regular season with a 40-19-7 record and 87 points, three more points than the second place Evansville IceMen (40-22-4, 84 points).

Fort Wayne will play the Rapid City Rush in the upcoming Ray Miron Presidents' Cup playoff's Opening Round and Evansville will face the Missouri Mavericks. The post-season schedules will be released later today.

In the Berry Conference, the Wichita Thunder finished the top team not only in the conference but in the CHL winning the Bud Poile Governors' Cup. They will meet the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and the Allen Americans will play the Texas Brahmas.
