
Whitecaps Ostlund promoted to Lakeland

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The Detroit Tigers announced today that lefthanded pitcher Ian Ostlund has been promoted to the Lakeland Tigers of the Florida State League. Ostlund spent the 2004 season in Lakeland but had Tommy John surgery in the off season and found himself at West Michigan to start the 2005 season.
Ostlund pitched in 44 games for the Whitecaps in 2003 and was promoted mid-season to Lakeland, where he appeared in 17 games. He was named a Midwest League post-season All Star in 2003.
Ostlund led the Whitecaps relievers this season with 15.1 consecutive scoreless innings and 10 consecutive scoreless relief appearances. He has a 2-3 record with 2.40 ERA in 48.2 innings for the Whitecaps in 2005.
The Whitecaps' roster now has 24 active players.
