West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI- For the second night in a row, the West Michigan Whitecaps tallied 5 runs in an inning, and they defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks, 9-2, on Tuesday night at Fifth Third Ballpark. The Whitecaps win the series three-games-to-one as Casey Crosby picks up his tenth win of the season, and Jordan Lennerton blasted his tenth homerun of the year.
Casey Crosby had his start moved back a couple of days due to a minor injury. The 'Caps' ace put a major hurt on the 'Hawks for the third time in 2009. Crosby fired five, shutout innings in the win as he gave up 3 hits, 3 walks, and got 3 strikeouts.
West Michigan got after South Bend starter Randy Rodriquez in the bottom of the second. Nine Whitecaps came to bat, and 5 scored on four hits. Luis Salas and Angel Flores had RBI singles. Brent Wyatt delivered a two-run double, and Ben Guez cracked a sacrifice fly.
