Lansing Lugnuts News Release

The Lansing Lugnuts, in conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays, announced a number of roster moves effective Tuesday. Outfielder Brian Van Kirk has been promoted to New Hampshire (Double-A - Eastern League), pitcher John Anderson has been activated from the Disabled List and has been promoted to Dunedin (A-Advanced - Florida State League), and shortstop Tyler Pastornicky and pitcher Matt Daly have also been promoted to Dunedin. Additionally, shortstop Ryan Goins has been transferred to Lansing from Auburn (Short-A - New York/Penn League).

Goins, 21, was drafted in the 4th Round of the 2009 Amateur Draft out of Dallas Baptist University, the alma mater of Major Leaguers Ben Zobrist and Freddy Sanchez. In 24 games with the Doubledays, Goins batted .297 with 15 runs scored and eight RBIs.

Van Kirk, 23, a mid-season MWL All-Star, was batting .278 with 13 home runs and 63 runs batted in for the Lugnuts. This will be the first tour of duty at the Class-AA level for the Oral Roberts product.

It also marks the first trip to Class A-Advanced for the trio of Anderson, Pastornicky, Daly. Anderson posted a 2-6 record with a 4.35 ERA with the Lugnuts before going on the DL on July 20. Pastornicky, the Lugnuts everyday shortstop since Opening Day, compiled a .269 average while ranking second in the Midwest League in stolen bases (51) and third in triples (9). Daly was 1-5 with a 1.95 ERA and led Lansing with 19 saves, the highest total in the Blue Jays' organization and good for second in the Midwest League.

The Lugnuts' official roster is attached, with 23 active players and three players currently on the Disabled List.
