CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Wheeling Nailers used a three goal third period to erase a one goal deficit and claim a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Tuesday night. Bryan Ewing's hat trick paced the North Division leaders to their tenth road win of the season.

The Cyclones opened the scoring 1:26 into the game, as Jimmy Kilpatrick netted his 13th of the year from Mark Van Guilder and T.J. McElroy. Kilpatrick received a pass at the top of the goal crease and buried it. Van Guilder slid the puck from behind the goal line to Kilpatrick who converted the score. The Nailers evened the scores at 11:57, as Bryan Ewing picked up his 17th of the year. The shots on goal favored Cincinnati, 9-7, in the opening frame.

Cincinnati regained the lead 14:01 into the second period when Van Guilder rifled home his eighth of the season from the slot. Jimmy Kilpatrick worked out of the right corner and snapped a pass onto the stick of Van Guilder to give the Cyclones a 2-1 edge. Paul Lynch registered the other assist. Cincinnati outshot its guests, 14-10, in the second stanza.

Ewing started the third period off with a power play goal 2:31 in to level the scores. Then, at 11:57, Ewing netted his third of the night and 19th of the year to seal the verdict and with 51 seconds remaining Chris Snavely fired home an empty net goal to close out the scoring. Cincinnati outshot Wheeling, 11-7, in the third period and also for the game, 34-24.

David Brown picked up the victory his ninth of the year, stopping 32 shots. Kyle Gajewski absorbed the loss, turning aside 20 shots.

The Cyclones are now 16-14-5 on the season, while Wheeling is 22-6-5. The Cyclones open a weekend series with Trenton on Friday night (Jan. 9) on ‘Automotive Bailout Night'. Tickets are just ten dollars for this contest.
