Charleston, S.C. - The Checkers scored seven goals to help solidify the victory on the road against the South Carolina Stingrays winning 7-4.

The scoring started in the first period when forward Brad Ralph found a loose puck on a turnover inside the Stingrays zone created by Checkers winger Mike Bayrack. Ralph lifted the puck over the Stingrays netminder Ian Vigier at 2:46 putting Charlotte up 1-0. The Checkers would strike again and this time it would be a power play goal scored by Matthew Ford on a one-timer at 4:48 lifting the Checkers to a 2-0 advantage. The Stingrays sliced the lead in half when Michael Dubuc redirected a pass just inside the post and past Checkers goalie Jeff Jakaitis at 5:13. Charlotte recaptured their two goal lead when defenseman Julien Brouillette blasted a shot through a screen that found its way past Vigier at 7:50.

During the second period, the Stingrays would cut the Checkers lead once again when Spencer Carbery deflected a Steve Romfo point shot past Jakaitis at 7:12. The Checkers would retrieve their two-goal advantage when Bayrack streaked in on a breakaway and beat Vigier with a nice move at 7:58. The Stingrays would spend the remainder of the second period erasing the two goal deficit. First it was Stingrays forward Jeff Corey standing uncontested to the side of the net during a Rays power play when Travis Morin fed him a nice pass through the crease. Corey made no mistake and banged the puck home at 11:12. The Stingrays would lock the contest at 4-4 on another power play when defenseman Nate Kiser blasted a one-time shot through traffic and past Jakaitis at 17:36.

The Checkers once again would go ahead by a goal when Mike Taylor rifled the puck over the glove of Vigier at 5:54 giving the Checkers a 5-4 lead. Ralph would score his second goal of the contest and give Charlotte some breathing room with a 6-4 lead at 7:24. Michel Leveille would add an empty netter for a 7-4 victory.
