
Checkers Claim Forward Bernier from Nailers

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers head coach and general manager Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has claimed forward Cedrick Bernier off waivers from the Wheeling Nailers.
Bernier, 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, played 17 games this season for the Nailers. During that time he didn't register a point but compiled 98 penalty minutes which led the team. Last season while playing with the Wichita Thunder in the Central Hockey League, Bernier dressed in 33 games and registered three goals and two assists for five points. He also garnered 229 penalty minutes which was second on the team. Bernier will be dressed for the Checkers during their road game against the South Carolina Stingrays tonight.
The Checkers are in their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game will take place Jan. 9th against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7 p.m.
