
Wheat Kings Defeat T-Bird in Overtime

KENT - The Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 in overtime Friday night at accesso ShoWare Center.
The T-Birds are in Kennewick on Saturday to take on the Tri-City Americans at 7:05pm. The are back at accesso ShoWare Center on Tuesday, October 22, for a Chick-fil-A 2-for-Tuesday game against the Prince Albert Raiders. Single game tickets are on sale online on the T-Birds website and at the accesso ShoWare Center box office.
Seattle took a 1-0 lead at 3:13 of the second period courtesy of a great play Lucas Ciona. Ciona got the puck into the left corner of the offensive zone and battled for control of it. Ciona spun and took a shot that Brandon goalie Ethan Kruger directed to the right point with his blocker. Simon Kubicek got the puck and took a slap shot. Matthew Wedman corralled the rebound at the right post, skated around the net and beat Kruger with a backhand wraparound.
Wedman struck for a second time at 4:11 of the third period to make it a 2-0 T-Birds lead. Andrej Kukuca skated up ice on a three-on-two break with Wedman on his right. In the slot Kukuca feathered the puck to Wedman who knocked it past Kruger for his third goal of the season.
Brandon cut the lead to one at 9:51 of the third on a power-play goal by Lynden McCallum.
Cole Reinhardt tied the game 2-2 at 14:49 of the third on the power play.
Reinhardt scored the overtime game-winning goal at 4:03 of the extra period.
The T-Birds are now taking orders for Flex-24 Ticket packages. Fans that purchase the 24-Flex Ticket Package will be able to select any available premium seat for any game, in any ticket combination, during the 2019-20 season.
