ICE Begin Three-Straight Games against the Blades on Saturday Night

Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg ICE (4-4-1-0) begin a stretch of three-straight games against East Division rival, the Saskatoon Blades (7-4-0-1), on Saturday night.

Puck drop at Wayne Fleming Arena is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. CT.

The Winnipeg ICE are coming off of a 6-5 shootout victory over the Swift Current Broncos on October 12. The ICE received two goals from Isaac Johnson and Owen Pederson while Jakin Smallwood added the other. Defencemen Chase Hartje and Reece Harsch recorded two assists. ICE goaltender Jesse Makaj registered the victory. The Broncos got goals from Alex Moar, Ben King, Ethan Regnier, Joona Kiviniemi and Aiden Bulych. Broncos goaltender Isaac Poulter blocked 52-of-57 shots in the loss. The ICE outshot the Broncos 57-32. The ICE went 1-for-4 on the power play, 0-for-1 on the penalty kill and won 38-of-84 face-offs.

The Saskatoon Blades are currently on a four-game road trip, previously traveling to Calgary and Medicine Hat before making the stop in Winnipeg. The Blades next home game will be against the ICE on Friday, October 25. The Blades are 1-1-0-0 on the road trip so far, defeating Calgary 9-3 and dropping a 3-1 decision to Medicine Hat.

The Blades are coming off of a 3-1 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on October 15. Zach Huber scored the lone goal for the Blades. Goaltender Nolan Maier stopped 48-of-51 shots. The Blades were outshot 51-25. They went 1-for-3 on the power play, 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and won 33-of-64 face-offs.

HEAD TO HEAD

The Winnipeg ICE and Saskatoon Blades face each other six times during the 2019-2020 regular season. Tonight's game will be the second meeting of the season between these two teams. The ICE and Blades will also face each other on Sunday and October 25.

The ICE have a record of 1-0-0-0 against the Blades this season, picking up a 7-6 victory at SaskTel Centre on September 27.
