LAST TIME OUT
The Westchester Knicks (9-3), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, used a franchise-setting defensive effort to knock off the Windy City Bulls (4-8), 91-73, Tuesday night at the Westchester County Center. The victory extends Westchester's win streak to four.
The 72 points scored by the Windy City Bulls tabbed a new low for a Westchester opponent. Erie's 74 points tallied on January 24, 2016 was the previous record. The Bulls' 72 points is the second lowest point total all season. Lakeland lost 96-71 at Windy City on November 2.
A mid-range jumper by Kadeem Allen at the 9:53 mark of the first quarter severed the Bulls' short-lived one-point lead and only lead of the game.
Westchester was paced by Billy Garrett, who earned his third consecutive start. He registered 23 points on 71.4-percent shooting. Hicks finished with 21 points going 10-for-12 at the charity stripe and raised for a game-high and season-high five rejections.
KEEP IT 100
When Westchester holds its opponents to below 100 points, the squad is undefeated (6-0).
WE HUNGRY
The Knicks have been getting after the ball on the defensive end as of late, especially in its last game against Windy City (11/27). Their 52 defensive rebounds and 60 total rebounds both tabbed season-highs for the team. Its 12 blocks against the Bulls were one shy of its season-high 13 registered against the Raptors (11/8). Additionally, Westchester got to the line 35 times which also marked a season-high for the club.
SEEING DOUBLE
In just two games, New Orleans Pelicans flex assignee, Kenrich Williams has averaged a double-double for Westchester. His 14.5 rebounds per game lead the team and he is one of six players to average 10-plus points so far on the season.
PAINT THE PICTURE
Westchester's last three opponents scored just 28 paint points per game while the Knicks scored 49.7 in the span. Westchester's last three games marks the longest span in which the team has outscored its opponents down low.
KADEEM ON THE SCENE
Kadeem Allen has totaled 18 steals in Westchester's last ten games, ten more than the next highest on the team (John Jenkins - 8, Paul Watson - 8). Allen is averaging 2.4 steals per game in Westchester's last five.
BOUND TO REBOUND
The Knicks averaged 44.0 rebounds per game through its first six games going 4-2. Since, the team has averaged 55.2 rebounds per game through and has gone 5-1 in the span.
TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK
From November 20-24, the Knicks averaged 14.7 turnovers per game giving up just 13.3 points. Against Windy City (11/27), the team committed 21 turnovers, luckily only giving up 11 points.
BLOCK PARTY
During Westchester's four-game win streak, it's opponents are averaging just 2.0 rejections per game. The Knicks however are averaging 7.5 blocks per game in the span.
COACH MILLER ON JENKINS
"He's off to a great start," Miller explained. "He does so many things. He's mentally dialed in to what he's doing, really into playing the game the right way and winning. He's good with our young guys just because he's been places that can help them."
USA BASKETBALL
John Jenkins has been named to the 12-man roster for the November USA World Cup Qualifying Team as announced by USA Basketball. Jenkins will be one of nine current NBA G League players featured.
"I was beyond excited," expressed Jenkins when he first heard the news. "To be invited and to play for USA is every kid's dream. I'm looking forward to it. It sucks that I have to miss some [Westchester Knicks] games but it's part of it and I'm looking forward to these two games."
NBA G LEAGUE PROFESSIONAL PATH
Former WNBA player Allison Feaster will lead its professional path initiative and former NBA player Rod Strickland will serve as the professional path's program manager. Select Contracts will pay $125,000 for the five-month season and are part of a full professional path that will include opportunities for off-the-court personal and academic development.
TWO-WAY PLAYERS
Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players under "Two-Way Contracts."
NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.
Allonzo Trier and Isaiah Hicks are both under Two-Way Contracts for Westchester.
LET ME SEE YOU FLEX
The NBA G League's flexible assignment system - which was instituted prior to the 2014-15 season - will continue to enable the independent NBA teams to assign players to the NBA G League for development or rehabilitation from injury. Trevon Bluiett and Kenrich Williams are on flex assignment via the New Orleans Pelicans.
