Greensboro Swarm Narrowly Fall to Long Island Nets

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, fell to the Long Island Nets, 118-114, at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum on Friday. Joe Chealey led all players with a season-high 28 points while Jaylen Barford notched his fifth 20-plus point game with 21 off the bench.

Chinanu Onuaku delivered for the Swarm once again, collecting a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Sam Thompson had a season-high 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting, along with eight rebounds for Greensboro.

Four players for Long Island finished in double figures. Jordan McLaughlin led the Nets with 24 points and Dzanan Musa scored 23. Alan Williams earned a double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds. Greensboro native, Theo Pinson scored 16 points in 39 minutes.

The Swarm got off to a hot start out the gate. JP Macura scored 7 of his 13 points in the first five minutes of game action. Onuaku continued to be active on the boards with four rebounds in the opening period.

At the half, the Swarm trailed 55-54. Chealey led all players with 14 first-half points. For Long Island, Williams led with 10 points and eight rebounds at the break.

Greensboro scored a season-high 37 points in the third quarter. However, Long Island came out swinging in the fourth, with a 17-7 run at the midway point. The Nets took a two-point lead with 1:22 remaining and were able to hold off a Swarm rally.

Couldn't make it to the Fieldhouse for tonight's action? No problem. The Swarm are back it on Saturday at 7 p.m. with a matchup versus the Westchester Knicks.
