
Blue Storms Back to Hand Vipers First Home Loss

EDINBURG, Texas - The Oklahoma City Blue (8-2) defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (6-4), 110-99, on Thursday night, giving the Vipers their first loss inside Bert Ogden Arena.
Two-way player Tyler Davis set a new career high in scoring as he notched his eighth double-double of the season with a game-best 31 points on 12-of-18 shooting and 10 rebounds.
The Vipers were the first to strike, gaining a 19-9 advantage midway through the first frame. The home team then expanded their lead to as many as 20 points in the second quarter, draining 10 of their 14 three-pointers in the first half of play. The Blue battled back to close the gap to nine points, entering halftime down 57-48.
With 20 seconds to go in the third, Davis threw down a dunk to spark a 20-3 run that would give the Blue a 93-88 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Rio Grande Valley kept things competitive, but Oklahoma City ended the game with eight unanswered points to earn the victory.
There were six Blue players in double figures as the team outscored the opposition 64-48 in the paint for the 10th time this season in as many games. Oklahoma City also grabbed 13 steals to help generate 27 points off Viper turnovers.
K.J. McDaniels registered 22 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, shooting 9-of-12 from the field. Bryce Alford tallied 16 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals while Chris Wright came off the bench to record 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Rio Grande Valley was led by Bruno Caboclo's double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Oklahoma City will return home to host the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. inside Cox Convention Center.
