Northern Arizona Suns News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Northern Arizona Suns guard Jawun Evans had a huge game. Water is wet.

Evans enjoyed a fourth straight impressive performance as the Suns lost 127-106 at the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Friday night. The former NBA second round draft pick recorded 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting, eight assists and six rebounds.

Over his last four contests, Evans has averaged 28.8 points on 53.8 percent shooting, 4.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds. He has scored 20+ points in four straight games, a career-long streak, and 30+ points now in consecutive games, a career-best mark.

The Suns (2-10) have lost six straight games and six consecutive contests on the road. The Skyforce (9-2) could have the best record in the NBA G League after tonight, depending on the outcomes of all of Friday's games.

Peter Jok was hot early, scoring the Suns first seven points as NAZ went on a 9-0 run to take a 9-2 lead. Sioux Falls responded with a 17-4 run to take a six-point lead. Duncan Robinson scored 12 points in the quarter as Sioux Falls led 30-26 after the opening frame. In the middle of the second quarter, Sioux Falls went for an 11-1 spurt to take a 14-point lead, a lead that would eventually grow to 27 in the fourth quarter. The Skyforce lead never fell below 10 points in the entire second half.

The Skyforce entered the contest as the highest scoring team in the league with the best offensive efficiency, and they continued that trend, shooting 43-of-80 (534) from the field, giving up just eight points on 13 turnovers. The Suns shot 41-of-87 (471) from the floor and outrebounded Sioux Falls 42-36, but 20 turnovers led to 22 SXF points.

Jok finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, continuing his run of making at least one three-pointer in every game this season. Daxter Miles Jr. recorded 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists, with LaQuinton Ross coming in late to chip in 11 points and six rebounds. Retin Obasohan made his season debut, achieving eight points, three rebounds and three assists in 14 minutes. He missed the first 11 games of the season with a right lower leg injury.

Yante Maten poured in 30 points on 8-of-13 shooting, plus 13-of-14 from the charity stripe, to go with seven rebounds and three assists. In two games against the Suns this season, Maten has scored at least 30 points in each of them, averaging 31.0 points on 58.8 percent shooting and 8.5 rebounds.

Robinson tallied 22 points, Raphiael Putney recorded 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, Rodney Purvis chipped in 10 points, while Malik Newman led the bench with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting.

The Skyforce are 2-0 against the Suns this season. In the series history, the road team has yet to win a game, as the Suns are undefeated at home 4-0, as well as the Skyforce 5-0.

The Suns will head straight to Iowa to take on the Wolves tomorrow at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines at 6 p.m. MT. The Skyforce head west to face the Stockton Kings on the road on Sunday at 2 p.m. MT.
