Westchester Knicks Rise over Erie BayHawks to Maintain Position at Top of Eastern Conference Standings

ERIE, PA - The Westchester Knicks (30-16), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, widened what's been a small gap in the NBA G League standings with a 92-88 win over the short-handed Erie BayHawks (26-20), the Atlanta Hawks' affiliate.

Westchester's Billy Garrett led his team with 20 points to go with three each of assists and steals. Guard Sekou Wiggs knocked in 18 points with seven rebounds and three assists while center Adam Woodbury chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds. From the pine, Buay Tuach recorded a career-high 14 points, just missing a double-double with nine rebounds.

Erie's John Gillon led all scorers in the game with 29 points, adding seven assists and four rebounds to his line. Forward Beau Beech and Center Jeremy Evans both finished with double-doubles of 12 points and 10 rebounds and each also had two steals. Guard Craig Sword also finished with 12 points, with five rebounds and two each of assists, steals, and blocks.

The teams traded five leads with four ties in the first, the Knicks squeaking out a one-point advantage after the first 12 minutes. Opening the second with a 7-0 run, Westchester extended its lead to eight before Erie's John Gillon answered back with consecutive shots from beyond the arc. Capitalizing on BayHawks turnovers, the Knicks went back up by nine before Erie pulled within three to end the half. In total, the BayHawks provided 20 of Westchester's 47 first-half points with 14 turnovers.

Erie kept pace with the Knicks in the third, both teams netting 20 points in the quarter. Westchester found its largest lead of the game in the fourth, pushing its advantage to double-digits, but the BayHawks pulled back within one with just 1:10 to play. The Knicks would hold on however, and outscoring the BayHawks 56-24 in the paint on the game, Westchester solidified the win 92-88.
