Dixon Records Triple-Double in Loss

Newark, DE - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, got monster performances by several players, including a triple-double from Daniel Dixon, but fell to the Delaware 87ers, 126-125.

Maine (17-29) was led by Anthony Bennett with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Devin Williams added another double-double with 26 points and 12 boards. Trey Davis added 25 points.

Dixon recorded the 13th triple-double in Red Claws franchise history with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. It is the first triple-double this season for the Red Claws. Drew Barham led the bench scoring with 10 points.

Delaware (15-32) was led by Christian Wood with a monster 46 points and 11 rebounds.

Bennett got his game going early, with Dixon dropping in a corner three to give Maine a 7-5 early lead. Jackson also started hot for Delaware - the former Red Claw scored a bucket, then followed it up with a three-point play and then a fadeaway jumper. The game was tied at 14 nearly halfway through the quarter. Bennett and Peak made back-to-back three's to go up 6. Williams' put-back and Davis' elbow jumper gave the Red Claws a 28-24 lead after the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd, Bennett fed Dixon for an easy lay-in, putting Maine up 2. Bennett's corner three made it 41-38 Red Claws, and the Claws extended the lead to 5 on a Dixon lay-up, and Williams' lay-in made it 47-42 Claws. Drew Barham scored 5 quick points. Christian Wood continued a dominant first half, scoring 24 points in the first two quarters on 7-9 shooting. Jackson scored, then Wood slammed it in off a steal at the buzzer. Just like that, the Red Claws trailed 62-60 at the half. Williams led Maine with 14 points at the break; the Red Claws shot just 5-21 (24%) from downtown in the first half.

Young opened the 3rd quarter by burying a three for Delaware. Wood continued to shoot well for the Sevens, but Bennett's monster jam brought Maine within 1. Davis dropped in a three to give the Claws a 75-73 lead. Dixon hit a three in rhythm as the Claws and Sevens went back and forth. Wood's 4-point play put Delaware up 90-86. Bennett buried his 5th three to put Maine back on top. Kyle Randall scored 4 straight to end the quarter and give Delaware a 101-96 lead after 3.

In the 4th, Jackson drove and scored to put the Sevens up 7. Williams stopped the bleeding with a baby hook in the paint. Vitto Brown scored 5 straight points for the Claws, cutting it to 109-105. Williams got it back to 2 at the free throw line. Dixon buried a three, and suddenly after a 10-2 run it was a 111-110 game. Davis buried a three to give the Red Claws a 117-115 lead with 4:15 to go. Wood slammed one home to tie the game and break the 40-point plateau. In the final minutes, Wood powered one in to put Delaware up 2. It stayed that way until the final minutes of the game. Davis missed a long three, but got the ball back down 2 with :06.9 left. Peak threw an inbounds pass away for a costly turnover, and Randall made both free throws to put the game away.

Maine shot 45% (44-98) from the floor, 38% (17-45) from three-point range, and 20-22 from the free throw line. Delaware shot 49% (48-97) from the field, 27% (8-30) from downtown, and 22-28 from the charity stripe.
