TAYLORSVILLE, Utah - The Salt Lake City Stars couldn't complete their comeback against the Sioux Falls Skyforce, falling 138-127 Monday night at Bruin Arena.
The Stars fell behind early in the first half, trailing by as many as 20 before heading into the break down 72-57, shooting .400 from the field and .412 from behind the arc.
Salt Lake City cut the Skyforce's lead to seven to begin the fourth quarter, before Sioux Falls pulled away with a 17-2 run. The Stars did outscore the Miami Heat affiliate 70-66 in the second half.
Diamond Stone led the Stars with 30 points on 8-of-19 from the field and hitting a perfect 14-of-14 from the charity stripe. He also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. Georges Niang finished with 17 points, while Naz Mitrou-Long added 18 points.
The Skyforce's Derrick Jones, Jr. notched a game-high 33 points, while reserve Torrey Craig chipped in 25 points and 12 rebounds.
The Stars will now head on a three-game road trip beginning Saturday, March 17 against the Iowa Wolves. The game can be seen on Facebook Live at 6 p.m. MT.
