Westchester Knicks Fall to Delaware 87ers
November 22, 2014 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester Knicks (1-3), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, fell to the Delaware 87ers (2-0) 101-93 despite three Knicks securing twenty-plus points.
The Westchester Knicks led the majority of the first quarter with big shots early on from Langston Galloway and Andre Barrett. Although they outscored the Sevens in the first, third, and fourth quarters, Westchester saw a rough second quarter and never quite recovered. While it looked like the Knicks could make a run for it towards the end, a three-pointer from Sevens guard DJ Seeley with under a minute to go sealed the deal for Delaware.
Guard Langston Galloway was on fire beyond the arc with seven three-pointers and a total of 22 points on the night. Galloway also added five assists, three rebounds, and a steal, but the effort fell short of backing a win for the Knicks. Forward Darnell Jackson led scoring for Westchester with 23 points on 11-of-14 shooting, also adding seven rebounds. Andre Barrett notched 21 points with four assists and a steal, and Ben Strong, seeing almost 38 minutes of play, had 12 rebounds and 10 points securing the first double-double in Westchester Knicks history.
Delaware saw seven players with double-digit scoring, led by Melvin Johnson with 16 points and four rebounds. Ronald Roberts, with a double-double, added 14 points with 12 rebounds for the Sevens. On assignment from the 87ers NBA affiliate, the Philadelphia 76ers, forward JaKarr Sampson netted 13 points and five rebounds.
The Westchester Knicks return to the Westchester County Center on Tuesday, Nov. 25 to face the Los Angeles D-Fenders at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on MSG Network with Al Trautwig handling play-by-play, Wally Szcerbiak as game analyst, and Alan Hahn reporting.
