D-Fenders Drop Tight One at Home

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders fell to the Idaho Stampede 130-129 tonight at the Toyota Sports Center.

The D-Fenders (1-3) were led by Manny Harris (32 points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals) and Jabari Brown (30 points, two rebounds). Jamario Moon (19 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds) recorded his first double-double of the season, while Eloy Vargas (14 points, six rebounds), Vander Blue (12 points, three assists and two rebounds) and Roscoe Smith (11 points, eight rebounds) all scored in double-figures for Los Angeles.

Keven Murphy tallied 32 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while dishing out seven assists and grabbing six rebounds for Idaho (1-2). Joel Wright (23 points, 12 rebounds) and Jerrelle Benimon (21 points, nine rebounds and four assists) both scored 20 points or more. Aaron Dotson (18 points) and Toure' Murry (15 points, 10 assists and six rebounds) both reached double-figure scoring for Idaho.

Los Angeles came out firing, connecting on 13-of-23 field goals in the first quarter, ending the quarter with a 35-27 lead. Jabari Brown scored 12 points off the bench for L.A., while Kevin Murphy also tallied 12 points for Idaho. By halftime, Moon (16 points), Brown (15 points) and Harris (14 points) had all reached double-digit points. The D-Fenders shot .614 for the half, and ended with a 70-58 lead. Kevin Murphy (18 points) and Jerrelle Benimon (12 points) led the way for Idaho in the first half.

Idaho outscored the D-Fenders 30-29 in the third quarter, leaving them down just 11 points (99-88) going into the final frame. Los Angeles turned the ball over 10 times in the third quarter, compared to just five four Idaho. The fourth quarter was a tough one for the D-Fenders, who shot .375 from the field compared to .591 for the Stampede. Los Angeles was outscored 42-30 in the quarter and dropped this one, 130-129.

Overall, the D-Fenders shot .545 from the field, while the Stampede shot .526. Points in the paint were a big factor, with Idaho outscoring Los Angeles 78-58. This was the second game in a row decided by one point for the D-Fenders, who beat Rio Grande Valley 128-127 on Wednesday, November 19th.

The D-Fenders are back in action at the Toyota Sports Center tomorrow, November 22nd to host the Idaho Stampede at 6:30 p.m. PT.
