November 22, 2014 - NBA G League (G League)
Grand Rapids Drive News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - November 21, 2014 - The Grand Rapids Drive added center Willie Reed to the roster on Friday. Willie Reed will be playing in tonight's game against the Canton Charge.
Reed, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center, was most recently in camp with the NBA's Brooklyn Nets, but was waived on Oct. 23. He spent parts of the last two seasons with the Springfield Armor, the team that was purchased and relocated to Grand Rapids. The franchise retained Reed's NBA D-League rights.
Reed played two seasons at Saint Louis University before declaring for the NBA Draft in 2011 after his sophomore season, but went undrafted and signed with a professional team in Spain.
With Springfield in 2012-13, Reed earned Honorable Mention All-Development League Team honors after averaging 14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game with Springfield. Last season in 44 games with the Armor, he averaged 14.8 points and 10.1 rebounds.
On March 28, 2014, Reed was signed by the NBA's Sacramento Kings and sent to the Reno Bighorns. On April 9, he was recalled by the Kings but never played in a game. The Kings waived Reed on June 29.
The Drive released guard Dominic Waters, who averaged 3 points and 3.5 rebounds in two games.
The Drive (0-2), the minor league team of the Detroit Pistons, continues its four-game road trip last night at Westchester and today at Canton before returning home on Nov. 26.
