HIDALGO, Texas - The Oklahoma City Blue fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 131-125, on Saturday in Hidalgo, Texas, despite three players scoring over 20 points.
Six Oklahoma City players finished the game in double figures, led by Semaj Christon with 27 points and Mario Little and Michael Jenkins with 21 apiece. Little added eight rebounds and three assists while Jenkins distributed a team-best six assists.
Talib Zanna recorded his third-straight double-double by scoring 16 points with 16 rebounds. Through three games, Zanna is averaging 14.7 points and 14.3 rebounds.
Josh Huestis collected 12 points and five boards and Marquis Teague scored 11 points off the bench.
The Vipers won the opening two quarters to take a 65-56 lead into halftime before the Blue used a 13-3 run to take a 77-75 lead at the 5:57 mark in the third quarter. Rio Grande Valley responded with a 7-0 run and built up an 11-point lead.
Oklahoma City responded again, going on a 20-10 run to pull within one with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth, but the Vipers held off the Blue in the final minutes.
As a team, the Blue (1-2) grabbed 51 rebounds, including 18 on the offensive end. Oklahoma City forced 15 turnovers and scored 25 of its points on a fast break.
The Vipers (4-1) were led by Earl Clark with 29 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
Oklahoma City is back in action next weekend when it hosts three home games in four games, beginning with a 7 p.m. matchup against the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Friday, Nov. 28. For ticket information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
