WEEK IN REVIEW :
STK 5 - COL 7 (2/1/14) : For the first time since Opening Night the Thunder hosted the Colorado Eagles for a game at Stockton Arena and the game started very similar to that very first game that ended with the Thunder winning 5-0. Garet Hunt got the scoring started in that game and did the same for this game in the first minute of the game. Just 40 ticks into the game, Matt Bergland stepped in over the line and got crushed just inside the blueline. However, the winger took a hit to make a play and got the puck to Greg Miller rushing down the far side boards. Miller found Hunt in the slot all alone and the Captain buried the goal to give the Thunder the early lead. Not but 1:06 seconds later, James Henry would make the score 2-0 Thunder. Sean Escobedo would be the next to strike as his goal deflected off a Colorado player and in to make it 3-0 Thunder after one. Credit Colorado for coming out and knocking the Thunder off their game in the second as three straight Eagles goals tied the game heading into the third. It was back and forth with both teams picking up two goals, but with just minutes left to play, a costly turnover behind the Thunder net resulted in Eagle Kyle Ostrow banking one off Parker Milner's skates and in to complete his hat-trick. Trent Daavettila added the empty netter to seal the 7-5 comeback win for Colorado.

Antenna TV is available on the following Cable Networks:

ROUGH & READY ISLANDERS :
The team announced that Stockton Thunder will become the Rough & Ready Islanders for three games only this season as part of the ECHL's Heritage Hockey Weekend event. Both the Thunder and the Alaska Aces were tasked with coming up with an identity that pays tribute to their respective NHL affiliates while also recognizing the areas in which they hail from. Team President Brian Sandy was the mind behind the Rough & Ready Islanders name and jerseys as he worked with Port City Marketing Solutions and The New York Islanders to come up with this one of a kind jersey.
Rough & Ready Island is a former U.S. Naval base, and supply and ordnance depot during World War II, located just three miles west of Downtown Stockton. In June of 2000, the island was transferred to Stockton port officials and has been a big source of economic growth and development for the city.
A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY :
Actually...that's not true at all. It should be more like "In the near future in an ice rink on West Fremont Street"!
Either way the Star Wars Universe will be taking over Stockton Arena and we encourage all fans to come dressed in your best/favorite Star Wars costume and join the 501st Legion to celebrate Star Wars night on February 15th when the Thunder host the Utah Grizzlies at 7:30. If you are in need of tickets, you may be interested in the "Galaxy Far, Far Away" plan, which features two tickets to the game as well as four additional vouchers you can use at anytime starting at $58!
You won't want to miss the Thunder Lightsaber Thunder-stick giveaway either! The first 1,000 fans in the building receive a pair of lighted thunder-sticks!
SEASON TICKET HOLDER CHALK TALK #3 :
Head Coach Rich Kromm will host his third Chalk Talk of the season on February 15th at 6:15 for Season Ticket Holders only in the conference rooms near the North Entry. Coach will answer a few questions from broadcaster Brandon Kisker to get things going, and then take your questions on the state of the team, or just general hockey questions. Coach will answer questions for about 15 minutes before he'll head down to the dressing room to prepare the boys!
BUSY BIRTHDAY MONTH :
The Thunder have a few birthdays upcoming in February. On February 1st, the Thunder wished J.P. Burkemper a Happy 23rd Birthday and today the Thunder wish Brian Foster a Happy 27th Birthday. Four days later on February 8th, Shawn Boutin will turn 24 and to end the busy birthday month, Jason Clark will turn 22 on February 27th. February and October are the Thunder's busiest birthday months with 4 apiece.
FROZEN MOMENT :
Last week Mike Dalhuisen picked up the Frozen Moment award based on his kindness. While he is picking up his second straight Frozen Moment award, this one was not a "kind" photo. After taking exception to a hit thrown by Colorado's Jesse Mychan, the big Netherlands defenseman dropped the mitts and threw some massive punches that connected with Mychan. After a clear-cut win for Dalhuisen, the man referred to by the fans as a beast let out a thunderous roar that ignited the crowd.
FAN PICTURE OF THE WEEK :
While this photo took place back on January 26th, it was only sent to us via Twitter just a few days ago from Melody Reynolds. Ms. Reynolds captured a nice moment with her son Brody skating with Garet Hunt, and for good measure, the Captain gave the young man a stick as a birthday gift. Happy belated Birthday Brody!
TWEET OF THE WEEK :
This week's tweet comes from @JaredBayer who appears to be a San Francisco Bulls fan. We were truly disappointed to hear the news about San Francisco closing their doors and our organization wanted to reach out to Bulls fans to let them know that we were disappointed to hear the news like they were, and that they are always welcome here at Stockton Arena. Feel free to wear your colors and throw your horns if you like.
@SFBulls fans I know it sucks, but check out what @StocktonThunder said to our fans regarding yesterday's news. https://t.co/7ZWdGmoMG1
