Cincinnati's Howe Named CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Joe Howe is the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for January.

The 23-year-old went 6-1-0 with a 1.70 goals-against average and a save percentage of .944 in seven appearances during the month.

A native of Plymouth, Mich., Howe opened the month on a four-game winning streak, and made at least 26 saves six of his eight starts while allowing two goals or less in all but one appearance. He ended the month on a high note, making 28 saves in a 4-1 win against Reading on Jan. 29 and then turning aside 40 shots in a 3-1 victory at Toledo on Jan. 31.

Howe signed with the Cyclones on Dec. 16 after starting the season with Missouri of the Central Hockey League. He has seen action in 12 games with Cincinnati posting a record of 9-2-1 with one shutout, a 2.43 goals-against average and a save percentage of .919.

Prior to turning pro, Howe played four seasons at Colorado College, posting a career record of 54-50-10 with eight shutouts, a 2.97 goals-against average and a save percentage of .905.
