Elmira's Vaskivuo Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Mike Vaskivuo of the Elmira Jackals is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 27-Feb. 2.
Vaskivuo scored three goals, added five assists and was a +6 last week as the Jackals went 3-0-0 to extend their winning streak to four games.
The 27-year-old had three points (1g-2a) in a 4-1 win against Kalamazoo on Wednesday and in a 4-3 overtime win at Fort Wayne on Friday before tallying two points (1g-1a) in a 4-2 victory at Toledo on Saturday.
A native of Helsinki, Finland, Vaskivuo is sixth in the ECHL with 42 points (13g-29a) in 35 games with Fort Wayne and Elmira. Since being acquired by the Jackals in a trade on Jan. 6, he has recorded 21 points (8g-13a) and a +13 rating in 12 games.
Vaskivuo has tallied 197 points (79g-118a) in 235 career pro games.
On behalf of Mike Vaskivuo, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 29,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
