
Aces Returned Trupp, Assigned Elson from Abbotsford

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, proud affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced today that left winger Evan Trupp has been released from his professional tryout offer with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League and Calgary has assigned left winger Turner Elson to the Aces from Abbotsford.
The pair of forwards are expected to join the Aces for their next game on Friday to open ECHL Hockey Heritage Weekend at Sullivan Arena, hosting the Stockton Thunder at 7:15 p.m. (GCI/KFQD). The Aces telecast, also airing live in the Sacramento, Calif. region, opens with coverage at 7:00 p.m. and will also be replayed on NHL Network on Sunday, Feb, 9 (9:00 a.m. AKT).
Trupp, 26, earned four points (1g-3a) and a +3 rating in seven games with Abbotsford which was his first stint in the AHL. He left the Aces on Jan. 13 ranking second in team scoring with 30 points in 33 games and their leader in power play points (8) and goals (5).
The native of Anchorage has collected 70 points in 148 career ECHL games with Alaska, Bakersfield and Cincinnati.
Elson, 21, was signed by Calgary as a free agent on Sept. 22, 2011 and has skated in 33 career games with Abbotsford with two goals and 19 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot, 185 pound forward previously posted 151 points (72g-79a) and a +46 rating in 253 career games with Red Deer of the Western Hockey League. As an alternate captain last season, he attained career highs in points (57), goals (26) and assists (31) while ranking second on the Rebels in all three scoring categories.
Elson, a native of New Westminster, British Columbia, also skated with the Calgary Flames at the 2011 and 2013 YoungStars tournaments in Penticton, B.C.
Elson will wear #13.
